What is a URL slug?

A slug is the URL-friendly version of a title — lowercase words joined by hyphens or underscores with spaces and special characters removed. For example, the article "Top 10 Tips for SEO in 2024" becomes the slug top-10-tips-for-seo-in-2024. This tool does the reverse.
